For the first time in No Prep Kings history, teams will compete against each other in a series of races, with the ultimate prize being a quarter of a million dollars. During the first event, eight captains will select their rosters from a pool of over 40 drivers. After 15 No Prep Kings events held throughout the United States, the team with the highest number of victories will become the No Prep Kings champions.
Discovery has announced seven of the eight new team captains, including familiar faces like Ryan Martin, Shawn Ellington, Kye Kelly, Disco Dean Karns, Jermaine Boddie, Mike Murillo and Justin Swanstrom, while the eighth driver remains a mystery. Interestingly, the 405 team is divided, with Ryan and Murder Nova on different teams.

The new format is expected to generate more drama and compelling television. The team captains will select their drivers, which is anticipated to create tense moments, as the first captain to choose somebody would choose Jim Howe or John Odom. The team captains will select from all drivers running on the NPK field, increasing the likelihood of multiple captains selecting the same driver, resulting in even more drama and tension. It will be captivating to observe who ends up with whom.
In addition, there is another twist for viewers: they can now select one of the eight team captains, known as the People's Choice Captain. From Monday, April 24 to May 31st at 11:00 pm ET, fans can participate in an interactive experience and vote for their preferred team leader at discovery.com/vote. The choices are Lizzy Musi, Robin Roberts, Daddy Dave, Jerry Bird, Scott Taylor, Jim Howe, Birdman, or Kayla Morton. The announcement of the People's Choice Captain will be announced shortly after polls close.
